‘This is what it’s all about!’ Pictures tell the story for TClarke London apprentices
25/9/20 : Following our new intake of 2020 apprentices, here is the first of a series of news pieces focusing on apprenticeship and skills training.
New Generation, Different Projects, The Same Commitment
Reflecting on the challenges we have faced this year with the COVID-19 pandemic, they echo the challenges we have faced in the past such as the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. Throughout, we have maintained our uncompromising commitment to the recruitment of apprentices during both 2008 & 2020 as we have in every other year.
Looking back to 2011, we were undertaking Park House, in London’s Oxford Street. At the time, our ‘2008 apprentice intake’ were preparing for their AM2’s (Practical Skills Assessment) to become qualified electricians and completing their apprenticeships. Fast forward to 2020, and one of the 2008 apprentices is now Project Managing our 70/88 Oxford Street & 1 Newman Street Project just a short distance from where he prepared to complete his apprenticeship at Park House. Many others within this picture are still working for us, also, in management positions.
The picture at 70/88 Oxford Street & 1 Newman Street tells a similar story to that of the Park House Project, where we have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year apprentices all on one project, proof that our commitment to apprenticeships and development of young individuals is undisputed, however big the challenges we face.
And think about the project itself
70/88 Oxford Street & 1 Newman Street is a Great Portland Estates project with Lendlease as the principal contractor. This is a classic project for us: electrical, fire detection, BMS, security and data installation for the shell & core and Cat A fit out. Both organisations, we are very proud to say, are long term clients and partners and supporters of TClarke
For the apprentices onsite, you can see that these large, high quality, landmark projects are a massive attraction for them. From day one, our apprentices get to work on the biggest challenges and the best projects with the best clients. It is a virtuous circle.
Look at the projects our 2020 London apprentices are going to
Some of the current TClarke projects our London apprentices have been placed on include, The Peninsula Hotel, Bloomberg Place, Battersea Power Station, One Bishopsgate Plaza and One Crown Place, these are true landmark projects.
Deep relationships and major projects underline our position as contractor of choice
Our relationships with major clients and principal contractors are well demonstrated by the projects we are sending our apprentices on to start their careers. Major projects require quality and a scale of resource – that is what we offer.
In coming weeks, we will share more stories.
