TClarke Oxford opens with major project for Saїd Business School, University of Oxford

16/11/21: TClarke’s success in winning the mechanical and electrical contract for Saïd Business School is of huge significance for this new regional business – and for the group as a whole. Divisional Director Carl Murray explains.

This is a landmark project for Oxford Saїd creating a global leadership centre for a world class business school from an historic power station. The project includes flexible learning spaces, leisure facilities, a library and 121 bedrooms – all of very high quality. We are delighted to be able to announce this, just a few weeks after opening the doors of our new Oxford office.

We will be onsite with the project in summer next year and right now we are in the pre-construction stage working with our partners, Principal Contractor Graham Construction and client, Oxford Saїd . 

TClarke in Oxford has introduced itself immediately as a major player in the market and in myself and Kris Thoburn we have a local leadership team with deep experience of both the local market itself and the key infrastructure sectors of healthcare, education and commercial which are our immediate focus.

It is well worth stressing just how exciting both this project and this local market are for TClarke. Oxford (just like the Cambridge market that TClarke has had so much success in over many years) is a world class hub for numerous high value sectors and a market that is not directly served by competitors.

When TClarke enters a market like this, it immediately creates an extremely attractive option for clients and principal contractors. This is partly because of the company’s reputation for engineering quality and the people it brings to a project. It is also, particularly in a regional market like this a very simple matter of pure financial strength. On a project of this scale, smaller regional competitors simply cannot provide the same level of financial confidence (which removes significant risk) – and that is a very important factor. 

The Oxford Saїd Global Leadership Centre is a great project with which to open our account – and I am confident in saying that it will be followed by further positive announcements from this team.
