From £2-5m jobs to £15-20m jobs: how we’re growing our UK South business
Anton Malia looks at the strategic transformations that have taken place across TClarke UK South as the business has geared itself up to bid and win in Tier One Markets.
In a record revenue year, UK South has become a Tier One full-service Engineering Services contractor, establishing a step change for the business and our prospects going forward.
It has been a record year for revenues.
We currently have some significant healthcare projects in progress, as well as new buildings being constructed in Oxford. We are also delighted to report that the Sawston Unity Campus project in Cambridge was successfully delivered. Furthermore, the revenue of our FM and small works teams in Birmingham and Derby has increased, which has contributed to the overall growth in performance.
The revenue growth headline is a great accomplishment. However, what pleases me the most and has the most long-term impact on our business is the fact that our “niche” in the market has been recognised. Just a few years ago, we were only considered for £2m – £5m jobs. Now, we are seen as a serious option for £15m – £20m full-service projects.
This recognition reflects our real growth in in-house capability, and our success in investing in staff training, recruiting, and retaining excellent people. We have also built real market confidence in our resource to deliver.
This is the reality of organic growth – it is steady hard work by people across our teams, developing and expanding our skills base, and delivering projects. This is what lies behind TClarke’s aspirations to grow. Growth is not just a number with relevance to shareholders. Growth is the increase in opportunities and career prospects for our people. Growth means we can give more people from our communities the chance to learn, train, and build their professional careers with us. I’m extremely proud of what our whole team has achieved this year in securing our future.
