2020 Apprentice of the Year : Ryan Pitcher
28/10/20: The TClarke Apprentice of the Year finalists are automatically invited into the company’s Future Leaders programme. TClarke’s apprenticeship programme is very highly regarded as one of the very best in construction or any engineering sector. Ryan Pitcher won in a very tight competition.
Ryan Pitcher’s victory in an extremely tight competition was hailed by Group MD Mike Crowder, who leads on this annual nationwide competition:
“Ryan made an outstanding presentation and in such a high quality field, he just edged it. I am delighted for him. His ability, as a young man, to think for himself on the strategic strengths and opportunities for our business, was highly impressive.”
Ryan has completed his electrical apprenticeship and works in our London team. He has clear ambitions and he is one of many TClarke apprentices who preferred an apprenticeship with us to the options of A levels and University.
“At school I was encouraged to follow the sixth form and university route but after being at sixth form for a while, and with some family experience in construction, I started looking at electrical apprenticeships and it soon became clear that TClarke has the strongest reputation – the apprenticeship programme is known to be the best. So luckily I managed to get onto the TClarke programme and I’ve taken it on from there.”
For his presentation, Ryan chose to look into the whole strategic picture of the business:
“I took some time to think about the strengths of the business and identify some fresh opportunities we might want to take, looking across many market sectors. I think the judges recognised the amount of thought and energy that had been put into the exercise.
“One of the great things about this business is that if you have ambition, you can see a path ahead. So yes, I do want to be the MD here or the CEO one day. I’m sure many of us have that ambition. The point is that here, maybe unlike 99% of listed companies, you know, as an apprentice, that this kind of ambition can become a reality.”
